Spreading Global Corruption - 2013 Quarterly Review

In 2013 many formally content nations are now fighting for survival while Parasitus Extraordinaria is fat, content and bloated, Sovereign nations have become abject victims of Parasitus Extraordinaria.

If establishing global economics networks did nothing else, they did create the most wondrous environment and habitat for the Corporate Parasitus Extraordinaria, a financial corruption blight which if not contained spreads faster than Floridian black mold in damp walls.

It came to light readily--global scope commerce and regional economic meshing provides the idyllic, quintessential parasitic paradise ever intentionally conceived.

In more sensible times, infection spread was somewhat contained by naturally formed, robust regional economies which served as containment to wild outbreaks of far reaching corruption, a barrier or firewall of sorts.

Removal of containment produced an epidemic of corruption never seen by humanity in the annals of commercial activity before, not entirely a surprise when one understands Corporate Parasitus Extraordinaria has usurped all governance and associated oversight, it has only one focus, self-enrichment.

2013 Bribery and Corruption - The new normal is upon us!

With tumultuous rivers of Trillion$ to spread contagion without impediment, global commerce infested faster than a virulent flesh eating disease and by 2013 the infestation had permeated every nook and cranny of commerce, stripping wealth at a mind numbing rate.

Eventually though--consuming the host entirely becomes self-defeating and so the process is being reinvigorated currently, surreptitiously--of course. This is the activity we saw in the first half, parasitic self-preservation gaged to preserve the globally enmeshed honey-pots.

Certainly, economic success for the world's population under unbridled free trade and open border policies cannot be viewed with any positive connotation, result demonstrates clearly... abysmal failure with horrendous social impact, at least for the host specimen.

Bribe Payers Index - Business As Usual

Fearing impending loss of its paradise a chilling realization prompted the Parasitus Extraordinaria to rethink infestation strategy, amidst angst of its host and mounting tensions against it, Parasitus Extraordinaria has mounted a media campaign against itself, hopeful the soothing words will lull its prey and continued good pickings can be preserved. Will the host succumb again?

How lucrative are the pickings? We may never know the full extent because detection has been spotty and inspections almost none existent or were performed in an encouraged cursory fashion. The spread of Parasitus Extraordinaria was enabled through these and other larcenous practices, referred to politely by elitist wealth grubbing parasites as "instruments";
  • Conspired easy credit conditions
  • Encouraged weak and fraudulent underwriting practices
  • Intentional predatory lending
  • Complicit deregulation
  • Allowed increased debt burden or over-leveraging
  • Creative financial innovation and complexity
  • Intentional incorrect pricing of risk
  • Contrived boom and collapse of the shadow banking system
  • Manipulated commodities boom
  • Tolerated systemic crisis
Applied tenaciously, these surgical instruments of wealth gouging yielded untold Trillion$ to the benefit of practitioners, at the cost and expense of untold victims. Although exposed as destructive activity no attempt has been made to curtail them, prosecute the perpetrators or otherwise apply deterrent.

Too Big for Jail! - Selective Law, for rich for poor!

At this moment the focus has shifted away from blatant wealth skimming, although it is still ongoing, to a strategy of replacing infested surfaces with a synthetic skin manufactured to resemble the original--that instrument is known as Quantitative Easing or its many variations, the hope being the scavenging cycle can be preserved and hence repeated again.

The ploy is to whitewash the infected surfaces having them appear as pristine.

The "Whitewash brigade"... a lot of sizzle, no bacon.

Predator economics knows no bounds.

Daily Corruption News Feed.

The effect of QE devalues the worth of any original real skin, but that is the problem of the host not Parasitus Extraordinaria. It does not differentiate between the synthetic material and the genuine... it's only interest is in accumulation. The host of course finds itself increasingly impoverished since it's entire sustenance depends on the integrity of its remaining meager reserves.

Corruption Visualization - by region. Cursor over the colors.

At this point in time the symbiotic relationship of Parasitus Extraordinaria and its host hangs in perilous balance.

Should the deceitful survival strategy of the parasite prevail then the host is doomed to continually being devoured. Should the thin and offensive dupes of the parasite be recognized for what they are, the host may in fact develop permanent immunity through ejecting its parasite.

Any weekend exterminator would know the inevitable conclusion... Too rotten to save.

My next update will deal with probabilities while exploring current developments...
More than 200 years ago, the great political thinker Edmund Burke warned that "among a people generally corrupt, liberty cannot long exist".
~Einstein "To understand everything, look deep into nature.

Stay tuned...

Women and children overboard

It's the  Catch-22  of clinical trials: to protect pregnant women and children from the risks of untested drugs....we don't test drugs adequately for them. In the last few decades , we've been more concerned about the harms of research than of inadequately tested treatments for everyone, in fact. But for "vulnerable populations,"  like pregnant women and children, the default was to exclude them. And just in case any women might be, or might become, pregnant, it was often easier just to exclude us all from trials. It got so bad, that by the late 1990s, the FDA realized regulations and more for pregnant women - and women generally - had to change. The NIH (National Institutes of Health) took action too. And so few drugs had enough safety and efficacy information for children that, even in official circles, children were being called "therapeutic orphans."  Action began on that, too. There is still a long way to go. But this month there was a sign that

Not a word was spoken (but many were learned)

Video is often used in the EFL classroom for listening comprehension activities, facilitating discussions and, of course, language work. But how can you exploit silent films without any language in them? Since developing learners' linguistic resources should be our primary goal (well, at least the blogger behind the blog thinks so), here are four suggestions on how language (grammar and vocabulary) can be generated from silent clips. Split-viewing Split-viewing is an information gap activity where the class is split into groups with one group facing the screen and the other with their back to the screen. The ones facing the screen than report on what they have seen - this can be done WHILE as well as AFTER they watch. Alternatively, students who are not watching (the ones sitting with their backs to the screen) can be send out of the classroom and come up with a list of the questions to ask the 'watching group'. This works particularly well with action or crime scenes with
