Let's just say, for the sake of argument... the Fukushima nuclear disaster is indeed leaking and dispersing noxious, toxic radiation fallout all around the globe, even as you read this!
Many background sources, as opposed to mainstream sources certainly posit that indeed is the case and Fukushima is slowly but surely contaminating everything with potentially lethal doses of nuclear radiation, the kind that seeps into the soil, water and hence the food-chain forever altering the stuff of life, even the air we must breathe.
Unless one has a radioactive counter of some sort we are totally reliant on the authorities to keep us informed and warned about such a hideous proposition.
However, history shows us that when the threat is large enough or must be sequestered intelligence information, that quite the opposite has proven true and said information has been withheld, usually, as they say, for our own good.
Out in the world there are concerned citizens who do monitor and report radiation levels but you would need to have a specific interest in finding these sources. Either way, the thought keeps crossing my mind that the progression of the Fukushima disaster, (still ongoing) has been relegated to the page beyond the last page of mainstream media, the specter of intentional suppression is chilling!
I mentioned events that are "too big" to notify the public about. Characteristically these could be described as events with no upside to divulging them, since they cannot be reversed or coped with anyway and so the decision is made to let the event unfold and to let the chips fall where they may.
Not only is there no perceived up-side to coming clean, there would certainly be downsides, inhabitants would react as they see fit and it is likely civil unrest and chaos would or could ensue. This is the logic used in matters of this kind and the reason why power-mongers are loathe to promulgate extremely critical information. They see it as adding another layer of complexity and workload to their day.
As much as I like things being done for my own good, especially by my paid civil servant, there is a line I draw whereby I feel I have a need to know, simply so I can contemplate personal options through being well informed. It is for this reason I am offering this alternative viewpoint.
Fukushima - no place to hideRegardless, I do consider this event to be in the category of "too big" to announce and so I advocate everyone do their own research and position yourself accordingly.
Resuming its upward trend after dropping in the Spring, Los Angeles air radiation has doubled in a recent 52-day period ending August 1, 2012. This reading was taken from the dust aggregate of three HEPA air filter machines that showed radiation emanation reading 205% of normal.
The previous 96-day period registered 192% of normal. This equates in the present period, on a per day basis, to represent roughly a doubling of the last period's alpha and beta dust. Spot checks of the HEPA filters before vacuuming to create the aggregate dust pile showed a hot spot on one HEPA filter topping out at ~284% of normal eventually settling down to ~239% of normal.
These readings were taken at Radiation Station Santa Monica where there is no "radon progeny" to influence the readings meaning that these numbers are accurate. The possible reason for this doubling of the radiation could be explained by a surge in beta and gamma radiation detected by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Rad Net station at an undisclosed location in Los Angeles during early July. That graph will appear on an upcoming EnviroReporter.com post called "L.A Air Radiation Doubles."
It is not about being scared... it is about being prepared, especially given the historical trait of the authorities to not divulge critical information to the public entirely.... if at all.
It appears disclosure has no upside! So... look to yourself!
This is not slick but it is probably honest.
Stay tuned...
